Get Creative with The Shabby Tea Room #47

Happy Monday and welcome to another fun challenge at The Shabby Tea Room.  This week we have a challenge for you, or atleast I found it to be a challenge.  Clare our lovely hostess has challenged you all to creating a card/project using no DP's, stamping only and no manufactured embellies. Does shabby seam binding ribbon, buttons and twine count? How about a pearl or rhinestone adhesive? Felt? LOL :)

Our sponsor this week is the ever so generous JustRite Stamps!! :)  As part of the DT we were given our choice of stamps and dies that we would like to showcase.  I chose Fancy Frames which is compatible to the JB08950 Spellbinders Nested Dies.  Love JustRite and love Spellbinders - the two together are like peanut butter and jelly - yummy! :)  JustRite Stamps will be providing our lucky winner a scrumptious prize package containing the Happy Everything Mini Tag Kit and the Fancy Tags Set Cling ... a prize package valued at approximately $53 - WOW!  The Shabby Girls {heart} JustRite Stamps :)

For my DP.....I used my favorite Basic Grey stamps, misted the paper with GlimmerMist, colored in the bird cages with Copics, and ended up with pink, yellow and green.  The cardstock circle is handstamped with yellow and pink roses with glitter added.  The bird was handcut from my scrap felt.  I did cheat a little and added a button, twine and a rhinestone adhesive for her eye.  The lovely frame was handstamped on PTI's cardstock with Avocado Green Ink and the center of this frame I diecut using Spellbinders S4-290 Labels Fourteen.  Last but not least - two pearl adhesives and some shabby seam binding ribbon.  What can I say....I cheated, my card was looking shabby and not in a good way!

Make sure you stop by my Shabby GF's blogs to see their beautiful creations! Thank you for stopping by and have fun creating!  Cathy xx :)

Avoir - WMSC32, PDCC66, C4C72, Crafty Sentiment and Paper Players

Happy Saturday!! It has been a pretty nice day here in Chicago except the weatherman is predicting a pretty big snowstorm over the next couple of days that will effect a fairly large area across the US.  For all you of you in the South get your shovels ready!! :)

This card was designed based off of this week's sketch at WMSC , PDCC color challenge, C4C challenge to create a project with a Shabby Chic feel, Crafty Sentiments to use your favorite materials and Paper Players - anything goes. The sketch was a fun one to work with and the colors were fun as well because I have never created a card using just these colors, but to create a card based off of C4C's challenge and Crafty Sentiments was right up my alley and needless to say Paper Players made it easy by challenging us to "anything goes".

DP's from Websters Pages, paper flower and rhinestone adhesive from Prima, decorative pin from JBS, stamps from Pink Paislee, misc. crocheted trim, shabby seam binding ribbon, vintage lace, and mini envelope.

Thanks for taking a peek..........off to post my card.  Have a wonderful relaxing evening - Cathy xx :)

your couch or mine? - Moxie Fab's - Tuesday Trigger

It is absolutely freezing here today - well below zero, too cold to go out!  My DH said he knows it's too cold if I haven't ventured out to my favorite scrapbook store on my day off!  Huh, got him fooled....I was there last weekend! :)  Needless to say, I have been in my studio all day, warm and cozy, creating away.

I know most of you who visit my blog may find this card totally unlike anything I normally create, but everytime I visit Moxie Fab's blog, I get this urge to create CAS.  So, based off of this week's Tuesday Trigger photo for inspiration this is what I came up with.  I'm so happy that I had a reason to go back to this set of PTI's stamps and dies again.  I also decided to make my pillow a heart and stir towards a more masculine Valentine - no pink and red. :)

Cardstock and polka dot paper, twine, stamps and twine from PTI, stripe and text DP from MME.  The paper flower is handmade from a vintage pattern that I have been hanging on to that I finally put to work for me! See....I haven't been able to let go completely! It is a modern meets vintage type of card! :)

Thanks for taking a peek - have a relaxing evening!  Cathy xx :)

Happy Birthday - Get Sketchy #71

TGIF and welcome to another fun sketch this week from Get Sketchy.  This week's sponsor is Pink Cat Studio and for the winner they have generously offered up some free digi's!! :)

I already had my card made by the time the digi images were made available, so I based my design off of the sketch alone.

DP's from Basic Grey, twine, diecut, stamp and sentiment from PTI, decorative pin from Maya Road, misc. vintage trim and rhinestone adhesives all have been added.

Super cold here today and it's only going to get worse.  They are predicting wind chill temperatures for tomorrow to reach any where from 10-30 below zero!!

Looking for some added inspiration..............be sure to take a peek at the rest of the DT's cards - they are just gorgeous!  Thanks for stopping by........have a great weekend! :)

Happy Valentine's Day - CR84FN11 and CPS121

Well, the weekend is coming to a quick finish, but I did have time for one more card, and so happy that I did. It gave me a chance to play along with Mona and the girl's at CR84FN and use their beautiful color challenge with this week's sketch at CPS.  I love when that happens! :)

DP's used are from My Mind's Eye and Making Memories, chipboard frame from Tattered Angels, scallop diecut and stamped sentiment from PTI, glitter from Martha Stewart, misc., seam binding ribbon and heart rhinestone adhesives.

My daughter Courtney, who recently finished with Graduate School (Forensics) was offered a position with a prestigious forensic lab here in Chicago. She starts tomorrow, and of course we're suppose to get snow.  She just bought a new car last week and it's a Honda Fit (small) and she just asked if she should bring a shovel! LOL Needless to say, they're only predicting 4 inches..........I don't think she will need a shovel this week! :)

Off to post my card...........have a wonderful evening!  Cathy xx :)
