Happy Saturday! This morning I awoke to just a dusting of snow, beautiful blue skies and sunshine. I think the day has inspired me. The snow will be gone by Wednesday with the 50 degree temperatures they are predicting. This has been one of the craziest winters I have ever experienced here in Chicago, but I am not complaining! :)

This card was created for this week's challenge at The Ribbon Reel. We were asked to make a card with a New Year's Resolution. My resolution is to live, love, laugh and dream to the fullest. I think all of the above are sometimes taken for granted - and we forget about the simple things in life. So here's to 2012!! :)

Just a little somethin'-somethin' for the challenge over at FTTC. The lovely and talented Heather is hostess this week and has challenged us to make something other than a card.

TGIF.......big snowstorm here in Chicago today. There is no better place to be than in my studio creating during a snowstorm! :)

This card was created based off of the sketch provided at MME. I am a huge fan of MME - so many gorgeous papers and embellishments! I have to admit......I am a hoarder and I have tons of MME products that I use all the time! The coordinate so nicely! :)

TGIF and Best Witches to you! I spent the day with my "lil buddy" - my Grandson, Trevor Patrick. It was such a beautiful Fall day here in Chicago, and we went shopping and out to lunch. We got back home around 12:30 p.m. and I put him down for a nap. I said "night night" and he laid right down. All was quite for about 15 minutes and I thought "Wow....that was quick, he must have been really tired." All of a sudden, I heard the door knob rattling to his room. I jumped up and opened the door, and he looked up at me and said "hi". The little guy climbed out of his crib! LOL

This card was created based off of this weeks color scheme at PDCC and CFC's challenge to create a clean And simple project using the quote as your inspiration OR use the quote as your sentiment.

Happy Sunday! Last night my Sister's and our DH's all celebrated my youngest sister's birthday - her 40th!! We went to an absolutely delicious Italian restaurant - one of the best that I have ever experienced. I came home so full - and decided to create this card for The Shabby Tea Room. It has been a long time since I have played along - and I certainly had fun with this one!! :)

Well folks - it's finally here......Fall! Much cooler temps here in Chicago, and I even thought about turning my heat on once or twice just to take the chill out, but I just can't bring myself to do so! One month of a lower gas and electric bill would be nice! :)

It's Sunday! Where has the weekend gone? It's been over a week since I last posted, and I haven't had any time to create this past week due to my SIL passing away from a long fight with Lupus. Debbie was diagnosed at the age of 13 and passed away at the age of 41 years old and left behind a son, Matthew age 13 and my DH's brother John. She was way too young to bury, and she will be missed.

On to a lighter note.....this card was created based off of this week's sketch challenge at WMSC, Mona's lovely color challenge at CR84FN, and Simon Says Stamp & Show - anything goes. It's been along time since I have been able to play, and it felt good! Thanks ladies!! :)

DP's are misc. scraps that I was able to work in and all stamps are Waltzing Mouse Victorian Frippery. TGIF! It's been a long week after the terrible storms that moved thru here on Monday - power outages everywhere.
We were one of the lucky ones and only suffered for less than 24 hours, but still ended up throwing away alot of food.

Happy Sunday! Where did the weekend go? We had our Grandson for an overnight on Friday and just enjoyed every minute with him until he left on Saturday. I taught him the answer to "who's Grandma's little boy" and he answers "me" giggles and claps! :)

TGIF - thank goodness the weekend has arrived! I don't know about you, but..........although this week was shorter after the holiday - it was tough getting back into the swing of things! I'm more than ready for the weekend!

This card was created based off of this week's sketch at Mojo Monday, and a little Red/Wh/Blue at The Shabby Tea Room. I tried a new technique that I found browsing other's blogs. Using a scalloped circle - I inked the cloud image that I used in the background. Isn't that neat? I apologize because I certainly would like to give credit to this person, but I searched again and couldn't find it. Whoever you are - thank you! I love it and it's so easy to do and I will certainly use it again! :)

I made this card with my Grandson Trevor Patrick in mind - he just loves the water! We have a pool in the backyard and he and Grandpa like to play while Grandma takes the pictures! :) I love this picture - this was the first time he had swimming goggles on and he was in awe! It was so funny!

Happy Sunday! How is your holiday weekend going so far? Any early barbeques? I am having my in-laws today - so this post will be short and sweet.

This card was created based off of this month's first sketch at VLV. A great sketch with so many possibilities, but I chose to fill my squares with little trinkets. I have to point out the gorgeous button on the lower right. My friend Joanne's elderly aunt passed away sometime ago, and Joanne knowing how much I love vintage buttons brought me a huge bag of buttons her aunt had collected over the years.

Wow....can you believe the 4th of July is almost here already? Maybe it's just me, but I don't even feel like summer has really arrived yet. The weather certainly hasn't cooperated that's for sure. Happy Saturday and what a gorgeous day it is here today - finally!! It is sunny, blue skies, slight breeze and in the low 70's. What else could you ask for?

My little guy just left a little while ago, and I thought I would sit down a make a card or two. This card was designed based off of this week's challenge at The Shabby Tea Room. A beautiful photo for inspiration was given and we were asked to use the colors in the photo along with ginghams and polka dots. My favorite colors and patterns! :)

Yesss.....TGIF! Another long week....and finally the weekend has arrived. Any big plans this weekend? My little Trevor Patrick (Grandson) is coming for a sleepover tonight. I can't wait - any time away from him is too much! At this age, everytime I see him, he has learned something new. His Mommy (Kelsey) said he learned a "bad word" this week......"mine"! :)

Happy Sunday to you! I hope you all had a great day celebrating Father's Day with your Dad's, hubby, etc. My Father lives a few hundred miles south from me - so he received a phone call and my DH has been out all day referring LaCrosse. We will celebrate with a yummy dinner when he gets home! :)

Happy Sunday - and a long weekend it has been! I had my 17 month old Grandson Trevor for the weekend, and every muscle in my body aches...I mean aches, but it was worth it!! He just has the most darling personality, and is already quite the comedian. We just giggled together the whole weekend! :)

It was so nice to be able to create a card this evening, and I created this one for this week's Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab - Cosmopolitan Neopolitan. I remember as a child, we didn't have all the ice cream flavors there are today, and my Mother would always bring Neopolitan home. My siblings and I would slice out the flavor we liked, mine....chocolate, of course! :)

Finally........a HOT sunny day here in Chicago and would you believe no rain? We are suppose to be near 90 today, and it's about time! DH will be working on opening up our pool and catching up on some long over due yard work.

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. I had an overnight with my Grandson Trevor who manages to keep me quite busy. His new fascination is balloons - so we played with the balloons ALOT. :) I made it a learning experience though, and worked in "up and down", "big and little" and of course colors.

This is my third week as Guest Designer for Heartsong Designs and I have to say, I am having so much fun with Leah's designs. :) This card is more CAS than the one last week, but I want to show you how versatile Leah's designs are.

This week, I chose this sweet little image - "Baby buggy". I decided to paper piece this image as opposed to coloring it in with Copics. With that being said....all the wooden details were cut with my Exacto knife and pieced together with the other pieces that were handcut.

I decided to stick with my theme of Clean & Simple tonight, and create this card for The Play Date Cafe, and for a second entry in Cas-ual Fridays.

I had alot of fun with this one! I Googled maps for Orange County, CA and printed it off on cardstock from PTI. It personalizes it a bit especially if you have a "college-bound" student or someone headed in a specific direction. :)

Wow....did this weekend go by quickly, but I was able to end it on a good note and create this card for this week's sketch at Card Patterns and color scheme from CR84FN.
Once again, these two challenge's came together so nicely - thanks ladies! :)

Update on yesterday's road trip with my DH......I Googled scrapbook stores in Champaign and came up with four in the area. I was so excited and much to my disappointment......
they were all closed for business. A sure sign of "bad economic times". Oh well, I went shopping at a nursery/home goods store, and picked up some Lavender to plant. :)

TGIF!! Another long week......and now it's time to relax with The Play Date Cafe and Fab'n Funky, and have some fun creating with my favorite colors - pink, blue and silver and some shabby chic. :)

I brought out my stash of Girl's Paperie for this one, scalloped and banner die from PTI along with the stamped sentiment, paper rosette from Girl's Paperie, silver doo-dad from Prima, misc. rhinestone adhesives and shabby seam binding ribbon.

I won't have much time to play tomorrow. I decided to join my DH on a roadtrip to Champaign, IL where he will be referring HS LaCrosse. I am going to Google scrapbook stores and see if I can turn this trip around to my advantage! :)

Hey....it's me again! My Grandson will be here in less than an hour, and I wanted to get this card completed! Hopefully, I will get one more in before he arrives and then it's off to the tune "Of The Wheels on The Bus" (his favorite)! :)

It's a happy day here in the Tea Room! The Shabby Tea Room is celebrating their 1st Birthday, and we would love for you to join in the fun. I want to thank you all for all your well wishes for Courtney. Friday's lecture at the AAFS was awesome! There was approximately 400 people in attendace. Courtney's speech was amazing and afterwards when the lecture hall went to break, everyone was coming up congratulating her, asking for her business card, giving her their business card and asking if they could email her with questions. I stood to the side witnessing all of this and thought that we as parents always pray for the best for our children. My prayers have been answered! I have posted a picture of Courtney and one of her Graduate School friends, Lindsay. The gentlemen in the photo is Dr. Michael Baden renowned Forensic Pathologist.

We will spend the day together attending other classes/seminars and having lunch and I will head back home on the Metra in the evening. She will be going out with friends, and although I was invited....who wants their Mom hanging out with them? :)

~A Proud Mother Moment~

I wanted to share this moment with my friends in blogland.....

AAFS 2011 63rd Annual Meeting (American Academy of Forensic Scientists)

"The Academy's annual scientific meeting is held in February at which time over 800 scientific papers, breakfast seminars, workshops, and other special events are presented. The AAFS consists of eleven sections representing a wide range of forensic specialties, and the annual scientific meeting gathers these professionals who present the most current information, research, and updates in this expanding field."

My daughter Courtney's research on Synthetic Cannibis otherwise known as "Spice" or "K2" was accepted by the Academy and she will be speaking on Friday at the Hyatt in front of 100's! Some of the world's renowned Forensic Scientist's such as Dr. Michael Baden and Dr. Henry Lee will also be in attendance and will be speaking as well. All her hard work and dedication has paid off - fresh out of graduate school and to have this on your resume'. I will be attending on Friday to witness my daughter in a business suit and all professional as other take in her valuable research and look on with respect.

This is certainly a Proud Mother Moment - someone pass me the Kleenex! :)

It's Sunday and the end of the weekend! Where does the time go? Somehow, it never seems to go that quickly when I'm at work! :(

This card was created based of of Viva LaVerve's Week No. 4 sketch by Andrea Ewen, the color scheme at PDCC and certain elements based off of Eva Dobilas' card at Case Study Challenge. Wow....that was alot of linking! :) This week PDCC hooked up with Case Study Challenge for a "Combined Grind".
